What Is the Gospel?

The word “Gospel” means Good News. And here’s the good news:
God loves you. He made a way for you to be forgiven, free, and restored to relationship with Him—through Jesus Christ.

We were created for a relationship with God, but sin separated us from Him (Romans 3:23).
No matter how hard we try, we can’t fix that gap on our own. But God didn’t leave us there.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. He took our place, so we could be made right with God.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13

How Can I Be Saved?

Salvation isn’t about trying harder, being good enough, or cleaning yourself up first.
It’s about trusting in Jesus—believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and receiving Him as your Savior and Lord.

Here’s how you can respond right now:

  1. Acknowledge your need for a Savior.
We’ve all sinned and need forgiveness.

  2. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that He rose from the dead.

  3. Confess Him as your Lord—surrender your life to Him and trust Him fully.

“If you confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

You can pray something like this:
"Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I ask You to forgive me and come into my life. I give You my heart, my past, and my future. I want to follow You. Be my Savior and Lord. Thank You for loving me. Amen."

If you prayed that from your heart—welcome to the family of God!

What Now?

Receiving Jesus is just the beginning of the most important relationship of your life. Here are some next steps to help you grow:

  • Baptism is a public declaration of what God has done in your heart. It symbolizes dying to your old life and being raised into new life with Jesus (Romans 6:4).
It doesn't save you — it’s a step of obedience and celebration!

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ…” – Acts 2:38

Ask a local church or believer to help you take this next step.

  • The Bible is how God speaks to us and shows us how to live. Start reading the book of John in the New Testament to get to know Jesus.

  • You were never meant to do this alone. God designed you to be part of a church family where you can grow, learn, and serve together.

    Look for a church that:

    • Preaches from the Bible

    • Loves Jesus

    • Welcomes new believers

    • Helps people grow in their faith
